"We just confirmed Adam for a live web broadcast next week on JamNow.com, he's doing it with Gerald his slide player. They'll play a set and then we're doing a live interview. This is free for all to listen and can be heard anywhere in the world - it's next Wednesday, December 12, at 3PM eastern standard time.

The session can be heard at:

http://www.jamnow.com/adamfranklin

We're sure to discuss the upcoming Swervies reunion tour and much else.

Perhaps you could post a note in the forum, asking for any questions
the fans might have, and I'll ask Adam to answer them. Also, if you
download our software, you can join the interview when we open it up
and chat with us live or text

Will the Swervedriver reunion tour be looking towards any festival dates?

Particularly in the UK?

I have a question about alternative tuning. Some people love it (Kevin Shields, Thurston Moore) and some people hate it (J Mascis). In his swervedriver days, Adam experimented with several different tunings and I think this had a deep and very positive effect in his songwriting. My question is: Does Adam still use alternative tuning? And if so, why? And if not, why did he change his mind about alternative tuning?

I would like to submit another question. In his swervedriver days, the young Adam Franklin used to write about cars, airplanes, deserts, superheroes, etc. Now after 15 years, he seems to have lost interest in those subjects, which is natural. What are the subjects he likes to write about nowadays? And where does he pick his themes from? Books? Films?

Finally, one last (and more personal) question. What is Adam's favourite art genre apart from music:
a) literature
b) theatre
c) architecture
d) sculpture/painting
e) cinema?

And why?

hey all - i'm Jim at JamNow. i'll be asking Adam your questions, and naming the people who asked them, so be sure to post any of your questions by 2PM EST tomorrow so I can get them on air.

Adam's broadcast will be available in it's entirety within a day of the broadcast at the same URL http://www.jamnow.com/adamfranklin

Be sure to tune in live, I'm a huge fan and I'll be doing the interview, so I'll try to keep it interesting....

Best,

Jim

My questions are...

What were your influences for the first Toshack Highway LP and could you recommend some specific LP's along those lines?

Also are we going to get a CD release of the various tracks that have been made available (though not for download) on his website at various times?

Also what is the initial plan for the Swervedriver reunion, so I can book my holidays around it.

Tour dates!

The only thing I can think of are maybe his thoughts on the dynamic of having a band with a fixed set of members (SWD for the most part) as opposed to having different folks in and out for the more recent Toshack/Adam stuff (studio and touring). I'm sure it makes it interesting when everybody adds their own feel/flavor to the compositions but also imagine there have to be some downsides to it as well with touring availability etc...

Indeed, great interview also! The stripped down sound of just Adam, the guitar, and Gerald picking away gave a really haunting type atmosphere to the tunes. And the "Gotta take a leak" comment made me spew water everywhere. He said the same thing when I was talking to him at the Charleston show and I figured it was just an out to get away from a drunken swervie! The dude is just to cool and laid back.
Sucks about the setting suns douche-bags deal. I guess the sinking suns will have to work then eh?

thanks guys yeah it was fun, he and gerald were cool, we all ate mexican food and hung out, and adam played thru my Goodsell amp - even jammed a bit on my Jazzmaster, so now it's been blessed! Such a couple of cool guys. I've already started adding the tracks to the page, so check them out...

it was probably Adam's version of "Outdoor Miner" by Wire.

Full interview is now posted - hope everyone digs it!

The 4th and last part is up now. Thanks Jim for asking my questions. Ever since the first Toshack album I suspected Adam had quit using alternative tunings and now I confirmed it.
