Today,

Aneurysm - Nirvana

Been listening to these guys quite a bit lately. Mainly B-side stuff. Dive, Aneurysm, and Verse, Chorus, Verse has been getting a lot of play lately.

Dude, you could almost make an entire incredibly good LP out of the b-sides and leftovers. Ever heard "Oh the Guilt"? Easily one of my favorite Nirvana songs.

'loper - on "Oh, the Guilt", does that start off with a cigarette lighter?

Definitely a top 5 track by them, even better since it's sided with "Puss".

Today,

"New and Redefined" - the Storied Northwest
Sounds like something that would come out of a Ken Andrews-produced Tool recording session. Thanks Darshun.

RE: Pinback

Had to check the back catalog. I read quite a bit of good reviews about "Summer in Abaddon" but never got around to listening to it. Right now, Sender, off of that album, is making the rounds in my head. What an entrancing song. Beautiful.

Loper,

If Ive heard that song, I can say that the name is not familiar. Sure I have it somewhere.

freakin' awesome Moen! freakin' awesome.
- and just when I was having my own pitty party for having to work tonight at home.
sweet!

dudes - I haven't even read what's going on in the "Forum rock" thread - but, I wish I was able to be involved...
my jam mates and I have had a hard enough time just getting our own stuff worked on with all these new babies poppin out all over the place! I think I'll turn our single dude onto the thread though - he's got things set up pretty decently at his own house and might have time to participate. He's a forum member here but is only a "lurker". I think his name is "wookie" or something like that...

I've taken over eight hundred pictures this weekend, and my eyes are nearly bleeding from hours of Photoshop. My only solace has been The French Kicks. Thank you , French Kicks.

My albums of the weekend: The Trial of the Century, Two Thousand, and Young Lawyer. There's not a bad song in the bunch.

How about some eye candy? Sorry for the size, but I don't think you'll mind. This is one of my favorites, so far.

tidy work Moen.

Today

Silversuns - Future Foe Scenarios

Triple J have finally cottoned onto this awesome band, 10 months after they broke here. Its weird, I half feel like saying I told ya so to the JJJ faithful, but its brilliant hearing them on the radio and they are getting big raps. Lazy Eye is most requested each night currently.

They are playing with Snow Patrol here who I could care less about but the killer elements are the big ticket price and the weeknight concert. No solo gigs planned in Adelaide either :-( Sad sad sad...

Love that tune. Actually the Everly Brothers did a superb version of that as well, on a recording entitled "Pass the Chicken and Listen"; came out around 1978 or so....I know, before you were born...sigh....

"Daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg county, down by the Green River where paradise lay? Well I'm sorry my son but you're too late in asking, Mr.Peabody's coal train has hauled it away".

It was written as a protest song about strip mining in Kentucky. Peabody Coal was a huge coal company...don't know if they still exist.

Yeah Geneo. Its a true story. When Prine was away in the Army his dad sent him a newspaper clipping about how the coal company bought the land and "raped" the area. I was born in 71 by the way.

"Lost In Love" from Air Supply has my vote.

Yes, I stuck it on the Petrol Vision WAB. Good memory Moen!

I'm going to ask for a couple days off so I can see Adam in Milwaukee.I hope to shake hands with him and ask for an autograph.

Do you folks think he'll be down with that? I'll be sportin' my Hitcher T so he'll know I'm not a schmuckinheimer.

Adam will definitely do that, Jaymo. Bring a couple discs and he will gladly sign them, and personalize it for ya'. Tell him who you are and most importantly that you're a Swervie and post on this site. He reads the occasional posts here...he did mine, and reminded me of the thing I posted about the smoking...heh heh...He might also let you get a pic with him...so bring your camera.
