Priestmaker - Drunk Horse
Rocket, Check out Cave In's Antenna, much more space rock action with zero screaming.
Moen, Good call on the Bitchwax. Im not sure who the drummer for that band is but he's friggin awesome. The stonerrock jukebox is a wonderful diversion. |

Hayseed - I wish I would have had the chance to talk with you before I bought any Cave In - but, it was a spur of the moment thing...
Interloper - you must not be a "myspace" friend with Swervedriver? Ha Ha. I think the myspace dude sent that link out a good month ago... but, in any case - I'm stoked I posted it for you to see it - I keep going to the page and listening to those 3 tracks every chance I get.

I did dig them, don't think I own any of their albums though...
It's an amazing day here in Boston, partly sunny in the 60's. I had the windows down, sunroof open, and the Stones cranking on the stereo while cruising around at lunch. I was just in the mood for some Brian Jones era Stones today:
"Lady Jane" - The Rolling Stones

oh yeeeeaaaaah - I love Shudder to Think! They were so experimental, eerie and incredibly catchy all at the same time. Luckily I recently uploaded "Pony Express Record" to my iTunes at work so I can listen to it this morning...
Any fans of Mind Science of the Mind? not the same deal as Shudder - but, you still get the vocals and the rock!

It is a great album, and most bands today would kill to write an album that good. But if you HAD to rank all Pixies albums, I think Come On Pilgrim/Surfer Rosa and Doolittle (my personal favorite) would rank ahead of Tromp, with Bossanova just behind it. Just my personal preference, that's all.
By the way, check this out! I can't wait:

All of this Trompe Le Monde talk, and I had to listen to it on the way to work this morning! So this morning:
"The Sad Punk" - Pixies, I love the middle bit of this song when it slows down.
I've also been digging The Dukes of Stratosphear - "Your Gold Dress" Another recomendation from this here board! Thank you very much! I think Rocket put one of their tracks on a CD for me a year ago or so?
So Croz, you recomend the new Arcade Fire album? I was thinking about picking it up at some point. |

I'm with ya Chevega! I thought the 1st album was okayish; I like it, don't love it. I did not understand why everyone praises it so much. I've heard the new album is darker, better. Croz, help us out! Is the new one worth it? Are they really that good?!?!?!!? |

I like Arcade Fire. I've listened to the new one only once all the way through and my first impression of it was great. But, it's not that different from the first one - so, if you didn't really care that much about the first one your opinion might remain the same about the band.
Hey Loper - when was the Shudder to Think show that your talking about? That's sweet!

It was at this place here in town that used to get bands into town in an old warehouse. Total byob type thing. They were one of the bands that played. Would have been around 93 or so. Anyway, I know the soundguy who did all the shows and he's essentially going to hook me up with all the board tapes he made. Without going into the whole thing, if he's got half of the shows that came through, the list is going to be incredible. Nation of Ulysses, Fugazi, Unsane, Jawbox, Green Day (in the Berklee days), Shellac...etc... |

Great song. If you're a serious XTC fan at all, you simply MUST hear the NINE CD Andy Partridge "Fuzzy Warbles" set. It's like getting nine new XTC records.

Wow - that's cool Interloper - I hadn't seen that...
btw - I read an article the other week about Andy Partridge getting his ears blasted out in a studio accident. Apparently the sound guy turned stuff on high volume while Andy was wearing the headphones and it may have instantly caused perminant damage to his ears. Andy is experiencing a constant high pitched ringing that hasn't gone away. That would suck! wouldn't you feel horrinle if you killed one of the most incredible creative genious song writers ability to hear sound?!
