nice one, moenkopi!
saw BTS in 99 at grog shop in cleveland. we drove from pittsburgh, got lost and ended up in toledo. (duh!) backtracked, got to the show just in time to find out it was sold out. my buddy mustered up all his charm, went to their tour van (which was billowing skunky smoke) and politely presented our dilemma. with little reaction, brett netson kindly scribbled our names "+1" on a wendy's napkin and told us to take it to the door.
the show was mindblowing. the set was perfect. most of "secret" and "perfect" performed flawlessly. during the encore extended jam freakout ending of "broken chairs", doug casually passed off his guitar to someone from the opening band..."the distractions", i think...but the other guitarist offered his axe to me, standing in the front row. bewildered, i took the stage with the rest of BTS for another surreal quarter hour of blaring psychedelic bliss.
song of the day "lovin' cup" by the stones.
thanks for reading.
i like you guys. you're all so nice to each other :) |

There are very few Aerosmith songs I can tolerate. The newer music drives me insane! I used to have an old 8-track of the album "Rocks". That album I like. "Rats in the Cellar" "Last Child" man its been ages since I listened to that one. "Back in the Saddle" was the radio tune. Brings back memories of riding dirt bike with my friends.
Interloper has moved me to dig something out from the vault today. |

| Yeah man, Combination is on Rocks, which is far and away their best record. I do love me some old Aerosmith. The cool thing is that the best ones are still not being played to death everywhere you go. |

| Go figure. I'm going to pick that album up again. Very true, overplaying leads to destruction. I've said that time and again to people but "Dream On", "Carry On My Wayward Son", "Sweet Home Alabama","Enter Sandman","Old Time Rock & Roll",and "Radar Love" just keep pounding away. How many times can you listen to the same five Journey songs? It just doesn't make sense. I hate classic rock for this. And you hit the nail on the head, the best songs aren't being overplayed. |

From the vault.
Everyone knows "Hair of The Dog" and "Love Hurts" from Nazareth
"Beggars Day", "Rose In The Heather","Whiskey Drinkin' Woman", "Please Don't Judas Me", "Changing Times", "Miss Misery" -These are the songs you may not know. I loved them when I was a wee lad and they are still champions. |

one of the many reasons that the swervies are so romaticised to all of us. they never got the radio love they deserved. |

indeed chevega. Sometimes I consciously try not to listen to the swerveness, I know its crazy but between working on the dvds and all I start to walk that "overplayed" line with some songs even though I love them all dearly.
That being said though "Directors cut of your life" popped up on the ipod on the way to work this morning and it totally rocked my world so thats my SOTD. |

| jamesg, I think Director's Cut is everyone's number one favorite song that didn't make it on Juggernaut. Anyway, my song of the day is NOTHING AT ALL, since i forgot to charge the 'pod over the weekend. It is definitely time to replace that 2.5 year old battery. <sigh> |

I did projects in the basement last night. Had to insulate some water pipes(its been below 0 here), general cleaning and organization.Listened to Janusinfurs(What ever happened to him?) and Boomer's Wab #6. Enjoyed it all.
Boomer, that wab is quite haunting in a cold shadowy basement.
Today I'm project man. Taking one of our Thundercats to the doctor, fixing a leaky tire, haircut, nap, walking the doggy, getting on the elliptical.

Same thing happened to me today. Jumped out of my car to start the ten minute walk across campus, hit play and ... nothing. What a horrible walk. I had to actually acknowledge people I passed in the hallways, instead of staring off into oblivion with headphones blaring.
Today it's ... "Song For Clay (Disappear Here)" from the new Bloc Party. Anyone else checked it out yet? |

iPod standouts on the big train delays from hell day:
Appleseed Cast - "Sunlit Ascending" off Peregrine Dropsonic - "Rotten Luck" off Insects with Angels Wings Terra Diablo - "The Smoke" off Terra DIablo (the original untampered with version) The Cooper Temple Clause - "Blind Pilots" - Kick up the Fire, and let the Flames BReak Loose Swervedriver - "Love/Hate the way it Starts/Ends" off The Passenger is Wired
Makes waiting 30 min for a train so much better... |
