They played. Great set - finally got to see them encore since this was the first time they headlined for me (3 other acts, didn't go on until 12:30).

I'll put in a full report later - they sounded good, but the venue was soooo looouuuddd that I'm sure the audio on my videotaping is going to be for shit. One loud whooooooom through the whole thing. But the video should look good. I canna hear a thing - the Drunken Unicorn is going to be the downfall of my auditory sense...

Today, I'm kinda overwhelmed and depressed (and frickin' deaf). I am listening to the player at http://www.toshackhighway.com.

At first, I thought I would hate it, but I must admit, the new Beatles Love remix LP is fucking great. Anyone else like it?

I heard it was great also, Loper. Sounds like I need to check it out. I usually don't like the idea of remix/reissue, re-anything, especially with Beatles, but the talk is that it's excellent.

Yeah man, I'm in the same boat. How can you go messing with something as good as those Beatles tracks? I thought I would absolutely hate it, but it's the opposite. I find it really interesting to hear the different parts put together. In all honesty, the fact that sir George Martin is the one who busted out the original master tapes and got to work is a big factor. Even when the parts aren't being mixed together, there's a lot of tracks on it that are pretty straightforward but completely remixed by Mr. Martin, and you can hear the difference big time. Beyond that, there's something really great about hearing the Within You Without You melody over the Tommorrow Never Knows backing loop. I absolutely love it.

boomer- That stinks the audio was too loud. How does it look, tho? Is it worth getting a copy of? Actually, you already have most of my Life & Time bootlegs b/c of my friend Dave's site (that has all those boots of TLAT). I can send you better (if there is such a thing, that's if you're a true audiophile) of my shows on CD-R.

Oh yeah, about the show, was there a good sized crowd? Man, waiting for 3 bands to pack up and leave stinks, kind of reminds me the times I used to stay up real late for Headbanger's Ball and find out that they pushed it back later (from 12am to 1am and lasts 3 hours). Those were the days...

Anyways, my song of the day is: My Former Life As A Optimist by Hal Scanlon

Boomer, are you familiar w/Houston? Cos if you like Shiner/The Life & Times, you'll definitely dig Houston.

Tired, it's almost 2am here and I gotta wake up @ 4am for my flight to NYC for CHAVEZ!!!

I can't shake TLAT's "Mea Culpa", so that must mean it is the song of the day.

Darshun - I imported the footage last night. Man, it looks great, kinda dark because of those lights they use on stage, but you get used to it. It starts off sounding GREAT then the bass kicks in and it becomes a whommy mess. Tracklisting:

1) I know you are
2) Skateland
3) Catching Crumbs
5) Muscle Cars
6) My Last Hostage
7) Hush
8) Ave Maria
9) Mea Culpa
10) The Sound of the Ground
11) Charlotte St. (encore)

Perhaps the video footage could be somehow merged with some decent audio. Not likely. Regarding the crowd, it was the coldest night in ATL in a looong time (low was 18), so I think many folks bailed. I know of 2 guys I was expecting that didn't make it because of their wussyness. There were I'd guess about 35-40 people there for the show (kinda depressing).

When I get the footage onto DVD, I'll make a small highlights video (read: video that you can actually hear what's going on) and post it to my website. If you are interested, I can send you a DVD copy of the show.

Not familiar with Houston, I'll look into them.

oh - I know the track listing is missing a track 4 - I can't remember - I've got part of the song on tape - I think it might be "Thrill Ride". After "Crumbs" I realized I wasn't going to be able to hold the camcorder through the rest of the show, so I accidentally turned it off when I was setting up the tripod between songs.

"The Stuff that Dreams are Made Of"-Danny Wilde.

Pure California sun-drenched punk surfer bubble gum...love it! Always thought Danny was one of the best in that genre as a songwriter. He later to found the Rembrandts. Rembrandts music (I have found) is rather populaire with the young ladies. : )

I'm with you Boomer, my daughter was up screaming at 4:30ish. I feel hungover, though I'm not.....

So today it's "I've Been Tired" by Pixies. Some of the best lyrics ever. Actully the whole EP Come On Pilgrim is excellent. I like it better than Surfer Rosa, but Doolittle is still my all time favorite Pixies album.

Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

Happy 1000th Boomer!

today - Morph The Cat by Donald Fagen. Nice mellow way to start the day.

By the way, I know there are a few Starflyer 59 fans here. Can anyone recomend a good intro album of their's? I have Leave Here A Stranger (found it used for $3)and like it. Just wondering what to try next. Time to start dreaming of how I will spend those birthday/christmas gift cards for the record shop!!!!

I am a superduper fan of I Am The Portuguese Blues, but that album is a little different from most of the earlier ones - a bit heavier and less dreamy. I'd venture to guess that others here would recommend either Gold or Silver.

My fave today:
"Last Ride Together" by I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness
and
"A Moment of Stillness" by God is an Astronaut off Moen's latest WAB.

Stuck at home with a sick little boo, they both fit my mood.

MUST...FIND...TIME...TO...GO...SHOPPING...FOR...WIFE!

Perhaps sick little boo shall accompany me on my adventure to the malls!

Today,

Captain Bligh - Filter

Title of Record is easily Filter's best album. Everyone gets hung up on Short Bus because of Hey Man, Nice Shot and this album often gets overlooked. Not much radio play but the first four songs are just unrelenting and wouldve easily destroyed any crap that they had on the radio at that time.

If life is but a dream, wake me.

Alright fella's. Two things got me all fired up this Christmas Weekend. The first, Cooper's Sparkling Ale. Read the rave reviews by Croz and Eugene and happened to run across some earlier this week. Good stuff. The second, Catherine's Hot Saki and Bedtime Stories. I absolutely love this band. Ive had Sorry since 95 but for some reason, I kept passing on Hot Saki.

If you guys like Silversun Pickups, give Catherine a shot. Theyre not together anymore and they only released an EP and two LPs from what I know. I know that its available on Itunes and Emusic, or soulseek for our more sinister Swervies. :D

Seed...where oh where did you get Cooper's Sparkling Ale? I need it! Can't find it anywhere here in Maryland. Best I can do is order the Cooper's do it at home brew kit, which has many of their ales but not the sparkling. Lemme know, bro'.

Salaryman is a band that looks a lot like Poster Children: http://www.posterchildren.com/

It seems to be their electronica outlet. I didn't even know this was happening. Looked up PC for nostalgia's sake - my buddy Bob was with them on drums in 1990-91, lots of good memories/songs with them overall. They also spent six weeks on the road here with Swervedriver - check the history under 1991.
