Invincible - OK Go
Has anyone ever seen / heard of this band. Ive seen a few of their videos and theyre hilarious. Basically shows the whole band dancing some quasi-elaborate gig, one involving tread mills. Hilarious and quite original. Watching four white guys dance around still doesnt take away from the music though, as its a sugar sweet assault on the ears. |

I had a good kack over that treadmill video. I vaguely rem them sounding like all those Franz Ferdinand cloney bands. Great videos tho.

One of the students in my lab made me a mix-o-Melvins, stuff that he saw I didn't have (bless you, iTunes music sharing).
SO for the afternoon, it's lots of coffee and:
"Revolve" off Stoner Witch "Mobius Hibatchi" off Honky and "Black Stooges" off H.A.T.
Really helps keep the blood pumping while reading a bunch of crapola. |

Again, I must pointlessly chime in with a resounding, YES!
Of the late 90's LP's, the Maggot is probably my fave, but all those are great. |

Yeah, I only got the two Amazon tracks off Maggot from him. I guess I've always focused on the older stuff. Revisiting your WAB tracks "Zodiac" and "With Teeth" currently. Which albums are those tracks from?
All I had until very recently was the 10 songs EP, the Ozma/Gluey Porch Treatments combo disc, and a few tracks off Bullhead. This is eye opening. They can really get those power-mud tracks moving when they want to! I shoulda seen 'em with Big Business (I was out of town for both shows - they played at a place call the Whirlyball here in ATL - it's a "field" for this crazy Jai-Lai/Hockey on a bumper car - and the 40 Watt in Athens down the road a piece.) |

They opened my eyes very much as well when I first got into them. Heavy or not, the way they put songs together is uncanny. They're insanely unique to me.
As far as recommending stuff, their Bonor records LP's are still the best to me personally. This is 89-92 roughly. Lysol, Bullhead, Ozma and Eggnog are still my favorites, and they're all really different. Since that particular era, the Maggot is definately the stand out. The one that just came out, Senile Animal is really good too, but has failed to make me shit my pants like some of the others. It's the most straight forward thing they've done in a while, and reminds me of Stoner Witch. That really early stuff is good, but I think they really hit the mark when they started slowing it down.
Anyway, yeah, they're bad ass, I could go on all day. 'Zodiac' is from Bullhead, and 'With Teeth' is from Lysol. Lysol might be the best one. Sleep's 'Dopesmoker' LP is the only thing I can compare it to, except it's about a million times better. |

Autolux today. I still love this album, can't wait for the new one. Also digging Voyager One this morning, Peoples Candidate from Dissolver
I went to the Autolux website last night and apparently they are auctioning off some of their stage lights from the last tour. If you have $250 burning a hole in your pocket you can pick up a square amber light autographed by the band. Would look nice in the living room...... |

| The Ugly Underneath - XTC. Don't know why, I just grabbed that CD on the way out the door this morning. Also been listening to a great boot of the Brian Jonestown Massacre from 1995. A really cool "Methodrone" era show. |
