Wow, how's this for a pick me up at work... Listening to internet radio & "I Am Superman" comes on!
OK, I'll admit not in the top 20 of my fav SWD tunes, but hell... always great to hear a Swervedriver song on public radio

You Know What You Are - Ministry
Woooooooooooo.....what a song!
I heard this song played as background music on an over the air radio station while the DJ was talking. I thought to myself, how cool would your station be if they played this?

Looking round that site it was interesting to see a band there named Mustang Ford, I wonder who influenced them? Anyone ever heard them before? Also some funny named bands like Slut and Gore Slut and they seem to be promoting the new Radio Birdman lp and tour!
Mum "Would you guys like to come over for dinner on saturday David?" David "We would Mum, normally, but Slut are playing at Heaven, so we wont be able to make it" Mum "Thats nice dear"
Favourite today,
Mark Kozalek - Lily & Parrots Which i heard while watching Shopgirl. Its not on the soundtrack you can buy for the movie though, nor the 2 other tracks by MK. WHY? |

My song of the afternoon is a guilty pleasure if there ever was one:
Danzig (The Little Elvis of Death Metal): "Devil's Plaything" and "I'm The One" off Danzig II: Lucifuge.
Is a Lucifuge some sort of Satan-Spinner thingie or am I missing something? Or is it something to do with Beezlebub's Confectionary Shop? Okay - it's late friday - perhaps methinks I should leave work early... Time for a frosty beverage! |

Rocket, Its a convuluted process as after i have imputted the info into a spreadsheet, it turned out i couldnt get the info i wanted. I got help from a database whiz mate who didnt quite get my intstructions. I will work with him closely when Im up to date and get everything down properly.
The second list is the most often nominated favourites of each person. Ideally Id like to find the most commonly nominated tracks, of most favourite, in order. Plus each persons most favourites etc etc. Sometimes I wonder why I bother doing it at all, but my curiousity is strong, if ill directed.
Today, it was the Crows song as they whooped the Cats by 92pts and scored me a 16/1 payout on $10. I sang it loudly with pride! |

Yeah, you're right. Me too. Speaking of, I forget where I grabbed it, but I heard an mp3 of a song that's supposed to be on the new Helmet LP. I guess their aim is to take it back to 90-91 Helmet. It's better than the last couple lp's by a long shot, but still not exactly Strap it on.

Unbelievers - Starflyer 59
Has SF59 become my modern day Swervedriver? I dont know what it is but their songs and their style effect me on every level. If someone asked me which bands would appear on the soundtrack of my life, Id have to say SF59 would be peppered all over it.
Every song on the "Old" LP is friggin fantastic.

| Dammit! Helmet's new album is killing me so far. Page has tried something really experimental with his vox. To the point that it completely destroys the album for me. Perhaps it will take some getting used to. I did promise myself after "Size Matters" that if I didnt like this one, that would be it with me and Helmet. Course I said the same thing with Ministry after "Filth Pig", "Dark Side of the Spoon" and "Animositia" and they turned around and released two of the most comprehensive ass kickings in the last three years. So...jury is still out on Page and the boys. |

| The Toadies are indeed the shit. I simply pointed out that "Hell Below, Stars Above" was better than "Rubberneck". Of course, the latter is the one that gets most of the play time. |

| Today's a toss up between Kissing in Secret and Baby Bird by Riddle of Steel. Fantastic band that is criminally overlooked. I know Croz has put a song or two on some of his WAB discs. Its good to see that people on the other side of the world know about them. |

X - The Feel
No, not the LA X, the Australian X. I swear this is one of my favorite punk rock bands of all time, and I can count on one hand how many people I know that know about them.
Hey Croz, what do you know about this band if anything? They're insanely obscure. |

Today and all week my favorite song is officially a DVD.
Talking Heads - Rome 1980 (with Adrian Belew and Bernie Worrell)
I cannot express to you how hairraisingly good this vid is. If you're a fan, and in the BT world like myself, cruise over to the Dime and find this thing. It's one of the best live videos of any band I've ever seen. |

Creeper Lagoon-Hey Sister
Funny...in the midst of my disordered unpacking, one of the boxes I opened had CD's...and I found Rocket's nice gift to me of Creeper Lagoon. Hadn't heard it in a while. Helped mightily with the drudgery of unpacking...as did the cold lager and slow Indica.....hmmmmm... Or should I say OM.... |

CD of the day...yep....I said CD:
Monochrome - Helmet
I started out very critical of this album but after about 10 listens, its really starting to grow on me. Ive gotten over Page's vocals and realized that this is Helmet. The Strap It On and Meantime Helmet that I grew up with is gone. Tell ya what though, the new line up does a pretty damn good job. Stand out tracks are Bury Me and Brand New. There is one part of the former where its just a guitar strum and nothing else. In that one moment you can realize that these guys still have raw power and can pack a helluva punch. |
