Fuck Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still can't stop listening to that disc! Love that song, and I don't think there is a bad song on that album!

But tonight I am tripping back to a recording of the very 1st club show I ever went to. It was September 1st, 1987 --- Gary Moore at The Paridise Rock Club in Boston. I was only 15 and still managed to get in. Truley amazing show!

From that show, my songs of the day are.... 'Shapes Of Things' segue into 'Military Man'. Jaw dropping guitar work!

Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

Today...
Tool - "Vicarious"
off - 10,000 Days

The instant that guitar kicks in - you know your settling in for an intense musical Tool explosion!

I haven't made it through the whole disk yet... (I'm on track 8). I'm diggin it though!
To my ears, they seem to be pullin a lot of the same tricks out of the bag - very similar guitar and bass riffs - same vocal melodies - just different words. But, they pull it off with such perfection! The drums are unbelievebly mind blowing! I already think I like it more than their last disk at least...

I might catch a little shit for that last one, but fuck that, its a good song.

Yeah, ol' Bob sure had his run. My fav by him is still Against the Wind. He has been overplayed to death by radio, but the sentiment and lyrics of that song still give me the chills sometime. My next fav would be Night Moves.

Never really cared for these guys but this song came up on the shuffle of the way to work yesterday and I havent been able to get enough since. Funny how that works out sometimes.

That's the song on which Coldplay used the melody from Kraftwerk's "Computer Liebe", right?

I thought it was interesting how they worked it into their song like that.

Dude - I still love the Autolux disk just as much - if not more - as the first week I had it!

Today...
Jeremy Enigk - "Lew's Hollow"

I've been rockin' today... but, then this track came up on my mp3's and I stopped everything to fully listen.

I also can't get enough:

Minus the Bear - "Drilling"
off - Menos El Oso

I loved this disk the first time I heard it - but, a part of me really missed some of the slightly more distorted and driving guitars of many of their earlier tracks. But, the more I listen to this disk - the more I love it - and truthfully, there is plenty of killer guitar to keep me more than happy.

Alright, Im really on a Helmet kick lately. Found a bunch of bootleg shows on the net and various other locations. Im not crazy about their latest incarnation but back when these guys had Stainer and Bogdan on drums and bass, they were unbelievable live. So much power. I actually thought the noise was going to collapse my chest and shatter my ears when I saw them live back in 92. These guys, along with Quicksand, shouldve been huge. Unfortunately, they are now a shadow of their former selves. If Page cant get it together on this upcoming release, he should really move on.

Agreed on all counts Hayseed, my memories of seeing Helmet (years ago) are how loud and hot it was and how everytime a bass note was played a rush of fresh air would come through the bass amp and cool everybody down. They were awesome. You didn't pick your favourite song though! On that (bass) note I'll go for 'Turned Out' from Meantime

Yeah, the only Helmet is the first Helmet. They were so fresh when they started. I remember hearing Strap it On for the first time and didn't know what to think. I have a vinyl boot that's dated 8-5-91 and called 'Unlive'. No info on venue. If I remember right, they do some different early versions of stuff that would wind up on Meantime. And yeah, Quicksand should have been huge. I had them picked to be right behind Nirvana. You know what went wrong? Their label marketed them to the wrong people.

Too right, Chris.

Hmmmmmm.....this would be like asking a mother which child she loved more......thinking..........alright.

For now, Id have to go with Blacktop and FBLA. However, theyre just barely edging out the entire "Meantime" album.

Yeah man, I love em all, but I'm eternally stuck on Strap it On. It's a little more chaotic in spots which I loved cause it offset the insanely tight stuff, like on the song Murder.

(surprisingly)
Fountains of Wayne - "Supercollider"
off - Welcome Interstate Managers

I liked their first disk a lot. For the most part I don't really like this one very much - but, I was scoping it for some goodness and found this track.....
Their are a few Sloan albums like that too = some greatness mixed with stuff that gets too cheese.
But, "smeard" kicks ass start to finish.

Yeah, agreed on the Sloan discs. "Smeared", "Navy Blues" and "Action Pact" are the ones which are great all the way through. Ive really been enjoying the first four songs on "Pretty Together". If It Feels Good, Do It is probably the most rockin' song Sloan has ever made.

Fountains of Wayne are alright. The first disc is outstanding but damn, you can get a cavity from all that sugar sweet pop.

I really liked the Sloan track you put on your last WAB...
Do you have Twice Removed? - possibly my second favorite... But, I don't have Navy Blues, or Action Pact!
I also have "One Chord To Another", and "Between the Bridges"...
