hayseeder, is the band Ash or the track called Ash? I remember a track from Ash that was on the first Gran Turismo game, i think Losing It? Such a good driving track there. Ash can rock out.

The band is called Ash. Theyve been around for quite awhile. Theyre from Northern Ireland and had a few breakout hits with Jack Names The Planets, Girl From Mars and Kung Fu. However, that clones track is by far their best IMO.

this band is spanish, sounds a bit like Mogwai and has a bit of psychodelicness about it. Nice gear.

Remember the band "Failure"?

I can never remember if someone mentions a band on here then I think about them,
or if I saw something somewhere else, or just thought of it!

But I thought they would be huge when Fantastic Planet came out. It rocked and was
pretty commercially accessible, but they weren't the next big thing.

Then a friend "borrowed" the album about 8 years ago and still has it, and I want to
hear "Smoking Umbrellas" bad and I can't even listen to the preview on Amazon
because my work computer says I'm not allowed.

Great album though.

Can your email handle big files? Gimme your address and the album's yours. One of my all time favorites, and Hayseed's fanatical about Ken Andrews.

I love Fantastic Planet too! - but, it's the only Failure CD I have. - and then I have some other Failure tracks that the WABers have included on comps. It's all great stuff!
Of course - I love On too.
But, I have to admit - Autolux is my favorite offshoot by any of the Failure gang. In fact, I've had the mp3's for a few months - but, I just went out this afternoon and bought the Autolux release from a store.

Rocket,

YOU HAVE TO GET MAGNIFIED BY FAILURE! I think it is every bit as good as Fantastic Planet. Its a little more raw, little more stripped down than Fantastic Planet but man, does it rock.

"One Cigarette" - Mary My Hope off the 20-inch single for "It's About Time" that just came in the mail and it's in perfect condition! How does vinyl sound so good?? Even when pressed in 1988. Time to get out the iMic and plug it into the computer with Final Vinyl.

Oh and Rocket, I found out the other day that you were right - there was a video for "Wildman Childman". My bad. I know it's lame of me to ask since I previously told you it didn't exist, but... do you remember anything about it?

Hmmmm... Boomer. All I really remember is that it was just footage of them playing in some kind of dark and dingy basement. I don't remember a story or anything like that - just them playin - no audience. It was good.

Today...

Sounds like they just taped one of their live shows in the late 80's. No audience sounds about right, dingy basement doesn't really narrow down the potential venue, though.

Thanks!

Song for today: "Hype" by Headswim off Rocket's WAB 2.

Ha HA - yeah - it was just a little staged video - not a real show...

I think I had it on a video tape back in high-school because I used to tape 120 minutes sometimes. My step dad taped over it though - not realizing that i wanted to keep it. I wish I still had it - there was some good stuff on there sometimes...

...so I also went out and bought the newest Doves CD after having scored the mp3's a month or so ago. I really love the new disk. My only personal complaint about it is that the first 2 disks came with all of the related B sides written at that time - and the b sides were usually my favorites out of the set. This new album didn't do that - just the 11 tracks... and no special footage or Quiktime goodies on it either. so... after getting so spoiled it's a bummer not to get anything extra...

My prospective boss has basically offered me the job.
The "official" job offer is tied up w/ H.R.
I thought it would come yesterday, but just another voice message.

It's a bitch:
Girlfriend vs. 2000 miles vs. more money vs. family vs. probably laid off soon from current job vs. friends vs. B.F.E. West Virginia vs. B.F.E. Arizona?

Anyway, since I haven't officialy had the offer, I think they will give me the
weekend to think about it. Thanks for asking.

At least tonight I can drink some normal colored beer and watch the Mountaineers in the NCAA tournament.

Edit: I had originally typed Girlfiend!

Kingman, AZ
Mohave Co.

It's in the NW corner of the state on I-40.

Any advice about living in isolated desert towns?
It's kind of scary, I was looking at the road map,
and theres 40 or 50 miles between freeway exits in some places.

Timothy McVeigh was from Kingman. My advice is to find some outdoor hobbies. Get a mountainbike. Be prepared to drive awhile to see a show, though Phoenix is not that far and they're getting more and more bands to stop there on the way to CA. Hope you like to read. Everyone does everything slower out here.

I see British Sea Power has a new album out... I have an mp3 by them = "The Spirit of St. Louis" - which is a choice song!
Anyone else heard these guys?

AND - holy mother of god - I'm listening to Criteria for the first time... a side project by Cursive's front man apparently. Damn, this CD is incredible! I might even like it more than Cursive?

So Today...
Criteria - "The Life"
off - En Garde
