drmcd, get on the WAB team, 1.5 hours a day should be enough to keep up!

Melwas, cheers for the Spy v Spy gear, it took me a while to work out who Harry was. They have brought back memories for me. Playing them again was like "oh yeah spy v spy, i remember them" cheers man

Eugenerator, Died Pretty, i put a track on my last one, titled "Doused" I think its from a later cd than the one Janus used. I loved that track tho. I havent hunted around for that particular lp yet but i have the marvellous "Doughboy Hollow by Died Pretty and have Trace on tape. They have split now but have this cool website, http://www.diedpretty.com/ It says that Mirror Blues 1&2 wasnt on an lp. I can hook you up with Doughboy hollow if you want. I gave it too Rocket and J-mo in my last mailout. I think rocket liked it but thought Doused was the best track. They also have a track on the "Tales From The Australian Underground CD#2" that i gave to a few of the early WABBERS, did you get that?

Your tracks are my faves so far on cd1 mate, when do we get to buy your lp? I didnt get a chance to do the cd3 ritual yet, busy birthday weekend for me.

Moen and interloper - I d/loaded the QOTSA lp with Feelgood hit of the summer on it, track 5 "better living through chemistry" is my fav track so far. I agree with you both, very solid rockn tunes. Im cheerin ya. Moen i listened to the 2 Minus The Bear EPS on the road the other day. I love the way they use the high notes on the guitar throughout it all. The link for absinth was a kak.

Jmo - I also got a hold of Dolorean's, Violence In The Snowy Fields, nice man, I got the NEil Young mood from it. My mate is going to freak over them. Where ya been lately bro?

Happy Birthday Croz!

Today's song is... i'm not really sure.

Let's say Valentine #1 as it had me dancing in the snow on my street! (woo, snow in london!)

I'm not sure today, either.

Something happened yesterday that has another sound stuck in my head.
I went to the dog track and they have a bunch of video lottery machines too.
Well, I honestly think they play audio over speakers of a bell ringing, as if someone just won the big jackpot. Like, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. And I don't think it's from the machines because the dings are steady and never overlap or stop.

So that's my favorite song today, I'm not happy about this.

But I did win $40.

I know this is somewhat lame and horribly overplayed,
but I got the Velvet Revolver song "Fall to Pieces" stuck in my head like a bitch today.

At least it is a good mainstream modern rock song.

After many a reccomendation I finally picked up sonic youth's latest. Very nice :). So today it's been that and also Chavez's "Top Pocket Man." That's a fun little song, the guitar tuning sounds very mean and cheery at the same time.

Wow - I don't know if any of you ever got into Primus? I did! I loved their first 2 - and liked their 3rd - "Sailing the Seas of Cheese" - and then I got kind of board with them after that. I mean, they always did O.K. - but, they seemed to have lost their spark for a few CD's.
Well, recently I got my hands on "Antipop" - it came out in '99.... and it really rocks!
(But, it's still not as good as the first 3...)

I forgot about this record.
Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies. . .the whole thing
They put 3 or 4 songs on one track, but it could be all one.

. . .by the way, for guitar players
http://www.mybloodyvalentine.net has tabs.
I haven't tried any, but they look good, they have alt. tunings and everything.

Also http://www.breakstuff.askingfortrouble.org/tabs/ has some good tabs for Trail of Dead.

Honestly, my favorite song isnt an entire song at all. At the Ken Andrews website (www.kenandrews.com) there is background music that plays in a continuous loop while youre visiting the site. Ken has said that he will include this into the new On CD when he gets around to it. Anyway, I freaking love that sound clip. I can listen to it for hours. I dont get it. I guess Im just a full fledged Ken Andrews junkie. Right now, Im listening to the 96 Failure show @ The Whisky. I need help.

Remedy? New Swervedriver material. Now!

I listened to E's Number 3 burn today. Now that my ears have stopped bleeding i have chosen track 3 Missing Voice by Janett Cardiff is my favourite track of the day.

Really interesting burn tho Eugene. Merzbow is hard work with the screamming schrieks. Like a slowed down magnified avalanche of noise. Your rain tracks are more my speed. The one with the bongos is fantastic also. A good experience all round. Thanks mate.

Im putting a looped track on my next burn for ya hayseeder. It can go on last as it goes for 36 minutes. The loop is a 10 sec guitar solo. Very good for meditation. I still regualerly listen to it 10 years after finding it. Ken Andrews site loop is pretty cool. You should dig this one also.

Love the Janet Cardiff one also...really a sonic masterpiece. The shorter Merzbow track is probably more "accessible". The longer one takes work, but has some great moments. I like it in it's own right, but it really must be listened to stoned (hate to say it, 'cause that would be advocating use, but...it's really the truth). Stoned, it achieves a dimension I cannot explain in words, but let me say, in that altered state, it is for me..the perfect thing. I don't want to listen to anything else when that happens. It is sooooo delightfully hallucinogenic. Or maybe, I'm just deranged. Court is out on that one. The rain track, BTW...was live during and after a terrific storm here; just a great microphone stuck at the door of my "studio". Glad you enjoyed it.

is there any more Janett Cardiff stuff out there? I could have listened to her streetwalking all day... Man I was ripped to the eyeballs when i put it on, after your good advice. You understand what I mean though about the blasting shreiking on some of the tracks, i suspected there would be some of course. I thoroughly enjoyed a lot of the rest of the stuff mate. JC is delightfully quirky and really got me interested in the whole genre. Direct me to more of her please.

Lemme see what I can dig up. That piece of hers was from a compilation called Sonic City, with multiple artists in a similar vein. But she does have her own offerings. I'll get back to you on that, and send some more. Did you like Justin Bennett? That was the track just before. He is really a great environmental sound guy, similar to JC, and I think they date/mate? It was his voice I suspect on her track (the English guy). I get Emails from him occasionally, when he has a new release or concert (unfortunately he is based in the Netherlands, and all the shows are in Europe). If I can't find anything else from Janet, I will ask him. Also, check out this link, click on the MP3's and see if you like. Textured soundscapes, more in the techno vein but good, nonetheless. http://www.raster-noton.de

Croz...you would have to pick Janet Cardiff. Well, this is shall we say a trifle complicated. I did some research. She is an artist who does mixed media installations most of them involving video and sound. The "walks" are her specialty, and usually done in conjunction with a museum exposition, or video. They therefore are usually available on Sony Walkman for the museum attendees at a particular expo of hers, and so not generally available on CD (unfortunately), so it seems the piece from Sonic City was a rarity. But...I'm gonna keep digging. Some of the walks may be obtainable otherwise. But do check out Justin Bennett, because his stuff is available, and he has Email address for correspondence. He gave me some gear recommendations, after I started doing some of my own environmental recordings, so I might steal an idea from ol' Janet, and do a spacy Eugene walk one day! Do check out this link and it lists the various walks which have been recorded. Opens up a whole new universe of sound exploration, doesn't it? After hearing Sonic City, it really changed the way I hear everything, and I'm constantly tempted to get the portable gear Justin was talking about and get busy...

As i've recently mentioned, i got the latest Mojave 3 (how do you say that by the way? is it Mo Jar-ve or Mo har-ve or what?!!) album, Spoon and Rafter - it's taking a lot of listening to get into it, and i'm not still fully into it but i'm sure i will be.

Bluebird of Happiness is a great song though, so that's pleasing my bluebird today!
