I forgot to tell you Croz I'm diggin' the 6x7 you mailed. So much music lately. The album of Deviant stuff I sent you was recorded live on the fly by my recording buddy. Most of it was trippy ambient shows he did back in Phillie, and he'd just hit record. He hasn't edited it after that, so it's kinda rough at times. The stuff we're recording will be louder than his Deviant stuff.

are you going to play on it also Moen? Hey it wasnt bad at all but not quite what i was after. I listened to it as i drove off to the coast to go surfing and it was sunny and clear. Bad place to try and listen to that kind of stuff, but the first track really had potential i thought. if i get the chance ill play it to my dancey mates - they dont mind some ambient gear. Onya though for the feedback. I have 3 lps of 6 by 7 and one that has just the track "Bochum (Light Up My Life)" plus a bunch of tracks to play with and mix off the same song. Weird really, but nothing else is as polished as that track, which was my first exposure to it. Going back to find out they rocked out way more was awesome i thought.

I'll be handling guitar duties, and splitting time on vocals. He's doing programming and bass. Occasionally I jump on his electro-shit and make a bunch of noise too.

Well, Thanks Jeronimofo! And yes, croz, you do.

Today, I can't tell you what I listened to on the train in because I threw my Burnies vol 4 and 5 for the next round into the mix. Let's just say I heard a long sad song, then a shorter song to pick me up a bit.

Today's song du jour is a total Guilty Pleasure: "I Touch Roses" - Book of Love, eponymous LP

Hmm... I hear stuff like this, and wonder what I would do for a Fairlight CMI Series III... just the idea of all those big fat sound cards gettin' busy with the electrons. But that's the closet technogeek in me, who was weaned on New Wave. From Peter Gabriel (who bought the first production version in 1979 - "Shock The Monkey" was mostly if not 100% Fairlight) to Def Leppard, The Cars, countless "new 80s pop sensations" and commercial jingles... there's not many souls out there who haven't heard some form of modern music produced with a Fairlight. A classical music authority type person released a dissertation a few years ago that asserted the "orchestral stab" sample the Fairlight was known for (think "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" by Yes) is/was responsible for the "beginning of the end" of classical music and it's traditions. Sorta a longshot I think, but it parallels modern society's increasing propensity to replace humans with machines.

loper - Wall of Voodoo did a real creepy version of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" - ever hear it?

Amen, brother; very succinctly and elegantly stated. I think Fairlights are extremely expensive. Also, there is software out, prohibitively expensive, forget the name right now...that is basically an orchestra in a box. If you write a score it will play it back sounding like the London Symphony doing your stuff. I think lots of movie soundtrack scoring people use it. If I can find the thing, I'll post it here. Wild.

I'm sure happy that Boomerama and Crozytrain like the Porcupine Tree treats.

Life is kinda hectic for me lately. Haven't been around here much.

The Fire Theft album has been going down well.

Also the Toshak Highway gear.

I'm loving almost anything acoustic right now.

Croz - you're getting damn close to 1000 ace!

Today...
U2 - "Love Comes Tumbling"
off - The Wide Awake in America (live) vinyl EP I got back in my youth... around 85.

I recently got my paws on a U2 B-sides 1980 - 90 comp they put out. The B-Sides comp is nice because I don't have to listen to all of the radio tracks that I'm still sick of years later. They had a great sound going for a little while...

yeah some U2 is cool. I got kicked out of home because of them once!

I have had this lp by The Music for about 2 years. Has anyone heard it? Its like a funky Stone Roses but more modern Id say. Fuckin Awesome

Thats my Favourite for today. Especially The Truth Is No Words and The People

I havent heard anyone talk of this band before here. Have you all missed this experience?

That would be criminal.

I saw that Tears for Fears have a new album following their big reunited tour...
although that had some good moments imo - I lost ALL respect for them after that pathetic excuse of an interview Curt Smith did with Swervedriver...
Swervedriver rocked the studio that day though!
