Has anyone ever heard of a band called Ex-Models?

I was just turned on to them and I love em. They sould damn near The Jesus Lizard with Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo singing, but that's okay, cause those are two of my favorite bands ever.

Yes, it is! And I totally agree with you about the same songs, except, I love the duel of Leather/Girls for me.

BTW, my rising sign (same thing as an ascendant) is Scorpio....So, that makes me a Scorpio Rising. Which also means that I understand that song in a way that most of you probably don't.

Hope ya'll had a great weekend!

Today its:
LightBright Highway - "Moon Glory And The 7th Sun"

One song per album side -- peerless-gazer from Denton two dozen pedals mustering enough inspiration for anyone to purchase of an Echoplex and a MuTron BiPhaze.

Indie label, two ohm hop, has put out some tastey treats. Damn, and their site [www.twoohmhop.com] is down which might be a bad sign.

your deathcab track was cool J, Aims and I both went "hey i know this, this is a great track" together. Yeah she has good taste hey!

Today though after freshly playing the gooniebag mix #2 my fav was Juliana Hatfield - Supermodel. Am i wrong in thinking this is the wrong title of this song? Or am i getting confused with another track? Cool as fuck regardless :)

Supermodel it is. Juliana used to be in a band called The Blake Babies. I only like her first two solo lp's. The rest suck. I think her thick guitar tone and her little voice work well.

Looks like Aims is a keeper mate!!

I love 764-Hero (named after the # you call in Seattle if you're in trouble on the highway). Anyone interested should try to find the Whenever You See Fit ep by Modest Mouse/764-Hero. They used to tour a lot before MM blew up and 764-Hero broke up.

damn the luck... I didn't realize they had broken up!
I like 764-Hero more than Modest Mouse and Built to Spill - who I read they are often compared to. 764-Hero seem to have more passion behind the notes they play.

Well, here's the good news. Jim Adkins, lead singer/guitar player, formed The Magic Magicians and has put out two records.
Check Out:

There's some other goodies there as well. (Elliot Smith, Pedro the Lion, Minus the Bear, etc.)

764-Herocket, I think one of their albums is on the mp3 disc. Did you get to check that stuff out yet?

Anyone here like The Dears from Montreal Canada? Truly one of my all time favourite bands next to Swerve Driver. Their latest offering is called "No Cities Left" and is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in ages. There are a couple of videos you can download from here: http://zed.cbc.ca/go.ZeD?CONTENT_ID=11091&page=content
They're not my favourite songs from the CD, but they get the head space across.

Mahavishnu is insane. I love John Mc-how ever you spell his name, but Im way more familiar with his work with Miles in the early 70's. I recommend Live Evil, Bitches Brew, or Big Fun. Some of the greatest music ever captured imho.

Oh yeah, agree with above entirely....McLaughlin has such an unusual sound and approach. You might add In a Silent Way to that list; I don't like it near as much as Bitches Brew or Live Evil, but it has it's moments and the personnel is about the same.

It always amazes me what a trailblazer Miles was. When it came to innovation and open-mindedness, he really transformed Jazz music. Without him, it would have stagnated at Bebop and Hard Bop for a lot longer, and "fusion" as we now know it, might never have happened.

Love that one. It's got this unusual modal melody (and I read somewhere that Crosby thought it up after tuning the guitar a different way...he was just noodling around, and the tune popped into his head). Absolutely gorgeous melody, harmonies and lyrics.

Now this is a little off the topic, but what the fuck happened to him?? I look back on those old photos, and he was this handsome long-haired swashbuckler. Now he's this huge thing. I know we all age (I'm one to talk), but really... And Stills is a porker also. It's like a meeting of the bellies when those two get together. I feel like singing "roll out the barrel" everytime I see a recent photo of one of their gigs.
Not only that,I just saw Jim Messina in concert, and he was musically superb, but ...ditto...I couldn't recognize him. Also barrel-esque. And he was quite the "babe" in his days of stardom.
Maybe these guys just sit around in their spare time, lamenting about the days when gorgeous nude babes would shake booty in their faces, feel frustrated about not being studley hung-wells anymore, and comfort themselves by eating pizza and other calorie laden foods. Who knows? I mean really. Gives a new meaning to "shake, rattle and ROLL".

Yes, beautiful song. In fact, the whole album is very, very good. A true Classic!

That Magnet album is on my list of things to buy. But, it is one of many - and I still haven't bought it... I got an email about it - and if I recall it was somehow connected with the Doves - but, I don't remember why? maybe it was just the same label or it was the keyboard guy with a solo effort?

Magnet, aka Even Johansen, opened for Doves in the UK (and maybe other parts of Europe) about a year or two ago for their last full tour for many of their dates.

FYI, he goes by the name Even Johansen in the States. In fact, if my memory serves me right, I think I had read a good while ago that he's switching over to using the Even Johansen name everywhere now for consistancy. Best to keep both names in mind though.
