Man I hate the morning hours. I'm not one of those cheery happy people until ~10-11am when my coffee has kicked in. On top of that is 25 deg outside... and I hate the cold more than mornings.
*holds coffee up as though its the excalibur sword.

I'm going this morning with some good old Led. Got it all cued up on iTunes right now. Starting with Houses of the Holy then IV, II, III, and finally Physical Graffiti. Thats all I have here at work and thats just the way iTunes decided to load them.

thanks for the link jamesg - I snagged em. I won't get to listen to them until later though...

Today...
Ides of Space - "Random Noise Generator"
off - There Are No New Clouds

Here are 2 reviews:
Mono
"...fluent in the language of headrush-noisepop...conjures up memories of Green Mind-era Dinosaur Jr or Smile-era Ride."
Revolver
"The songs creep up on you slowly and majestically…suggestions of Glide, Gersey and Swervedriver."

I don't agree with the Swervedriver comparison - but, they are cool. To me they sound more like Snow Patrol - but, this album came out in 2001.

Hold on WABsters - they made the cut on my vol. 3!

"very silent flight" by Eliminator Jr

If you didn't read my gushing synopsis of these guys in the Eliminator Jr thread, plese at least download the 3 songs on their website:

EliminatorJr.com

I really think you all should hear them. I'm hooked ! God, my Swedish band love affair has really evolved from the day I first saw the Hellacopters in 98.... Refused, Moonbabies, Eliminator Jr.... when will it end ? before all these guys, I thought ABBA summed them up. how wrong I was...

Hey whitewater - you should check out:

Fireside - "Get Shot"

- they're from Sweden too. They used to have more of a grunge type sound and, infact did a limited run on one of the earlier Lollapaloozas - but, over time their sound has evolved and "Get Shot" is a fenominal record! The sound is almost like Blur mixed with Fugazi and a touch of sonic Swerveness.

Slint - Bread Crumb Trail off Spiderland

Black Debbath might be from Sweden too. I'm unsure but thought they were from Norway. They have one song in English that is hilarious! What a laugh riot! And on purpose too.

Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation

...must be the side effect from seeing the Darkness guitarist with a TL shirt on all the time.

X-mas this year seems to bring the Kinks' "Father Christmas" out of the woodwork - I hit three parties this weekend and it was played at every one!

Father Christmas!

Go TISM! Such a funny bunch of disguised bastards!

Today,
Been getting into Interlopez's burn3.1 and 3.2 and theres heaps of faves. Especially the Fred Sneider and Ton Waits plus some others like Slint (first exposure - very cool, of course with everyone saying so), Come and Slade. Great mixing there loper, the change from song to song is very impresive. Way To Go GURU! Nice to hear some varied styles also. I dont dine on the thrash/punk stuff so good so the variety has been a pleasure. Onya dude!

DOA is absolutely killer. When he was at the top of his game, Ed was unbelievable. His tone on that tune is particularly raunchy.

Billy Preston can get down! "Will It Go Round In Circles?"

A friend gave me a Tristeza CD. Very cool moments. Croz, you might like it since they venture into electonicaland. At times it reminds me of Tortoise's- "TNT"- wich I've loved for yonks now.
Also, got an Explosions in The Sky Cd. Excellent backround tunes for a cold winter night in Michigan.

Peace all.

If only the classic rock staion would play D.A.O. instead of "Jump" for the kajillionth fricken time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, we only get Van Hagar on our Classic Rock station in the ATL. At least the Rock station plays "Runnin' with the devil" every once and a while, when they have to rest the Bob Seeger and the .38 Special carts.

You said a bunch there interlopermiester!

Sin City instead of You Shook Me All Night Long
The Mule instead of Woman From Tokyo
Fairies Wear Boots instead of Iron Man
Battery instead of Enter Sandman
No Quarter instead of Rock 'n Roll
No Bone Movies instead of Crzy Train
Rats in The Cellar instead of Walk This Way
Beggar's Day instead of Hair of the Dog

I've been on this rant for years now!

A girl at work this morning heard the music coming out of my truck and said "Hey, that sounds like indie." I said "Yep". She said "I used to listen to indie rock, and then I moved here." I said...."You have no excuse!"

EVH = The Brown Sound. Does anyone know if this phenomenon was ever defined? C'mon, guitar geeks, throw down... you know you like the Sound when it's Brown :)

My votes for classic rock deep cuts:

I'm Gonna Crawl instead of Fool in the Rain
Atomic Punk instead of You Really Got Me
Home at Last instead of Peg
Peace Frog instead of LA Woman
Highway Star intead of Smoke on the Water

Song du jour: somebody tipped me off to Flunks' cover of "Blue Monday" - pretty tasty...
