Pinback played tonight in Albuquerque, and I couldn't go. I've been listening to them a lot lately.
Croz, you ever checked out any of Pinback's side projects, other bands? There's a shitload, including: System Officer Rob Crow (solo) Physics Thingy Aspects of Physics Heavy Vegetable and Optigonally Yours
Some of them are really good, others are experiments. I'll hook ya up if you need it. |

the killers are getting lots of airtime here. Dont mind them either.
Today
Fur Patrol - Precious
Really good rock/pop from NZ. Great website also, http://www.furpatrol.com/site/main.html reminds me of Adalita from Magic Dirt and also maybe Elastica even. |

Today... Autolux - "Turnstyle Blues" off - Future Perfect
damn this is an incredible CD. I recommend very highly to anyone who loves MBV, Swirlies, and such...
Yeah Bailey - I borrowed the Killers from a friend and liked it a lot. Franz Ferdinand is very similar as well. Of course - I'm one of "those" who love the Strokes too.

Im not a fan of the Strokes music, but seriously, I think it's great that a major record label would give such an enourmous contract to a band full of down's syndrome kids. You really don't see that kind of open mindedness anymore. |

I got hammered last night as I got promoted at work - God I love Newcastle Brown Ale - but, as usual in Corporate America, more work + more responsibilities = not more money.
But what got me out of bed this morning was New Order's "Power Corruption & Lies" - specifically "Age of Consent".
But guess what? I'm gonna get hammered again tonight! Cheers Swervies! |

The Church - Reptile - off 1988's Starfish Summercamp - With Your Blessing, it has a very swervies part particularly about 2 minutes in. Fantastic. This lp Pure Juice is really underrated And Jeronimohawk - Porcupine Tree are unreal. What a find! Im halfway through d/ling In Absentia, its choice bro! |

Rocket, does sending you a song at a time through email bog down your computer? I could send you a song a day.
Hey Moen - somehow I missed this... Shit YES! - or should I say - "bring 'em on!" (send to my work email - you have that right?) I was re-reading some old things because I remeber you had me salivating over some new bands you were describing that I hadn't heard of. 90 Day Men and Mineral. And now after finally hearing them - I agree - they both kick major ass! Mineral does really remind me of Sunny Days early stuff! |

Glad you like them Croz. I found out about P.C. a couple years ago. I won a stack of Cd's from the college radio station and "In Absentia" was one of them. I was pretty impressed right away. The early P.C. is just one dude doing everything and I guess he decided to turn it into a band after people started to ask him when they were going to tour. I have alot of their gear and a few live boots. Some of its a little weak but it usually maintains its dark mysterious sound. I know there are a few die hard Pink Floyd fans here and thats all cool but my thought is: Pink Floyd had their day in the sun and its been over for a long time. Time to plug something new. |

It's off "Home is a Strange Place." THat was their last ep, but it sounds more like their first album than second.

eMOTIVe is different. Slower, more diverse. Billy sings on a few instead of Maynard. They had a deadline that Maynard was to start work with Tool, so they recorded at superspeed. I'll email you.

Fuckin Brainiac. I still have yet to see a band that could even come close to instantly light up any room they were playing in quite like them. They're another one of those seriously tragic music world losses. |

Interloper - I would have love to seen them live - I can only imagine it was incredible... Thanks for turning me on to them!!
DP - what happened to someone in Stereolab?
MattW - glad you're enjoying the live stuff! A few people were involved in getting it going - But Interloper is the man that put the comps together and created the mp3's - hand picking from some 40 odd boots he has! Dude - just waite until the b-sides and oddities get posted! It's in the works as we speak.

Rocket, a friend of mine has had my Brainiac VHS (with at least three shows on it) and needs to give it back to me. I'll keep ya in mind when I get my hands on it....The hometown shows were always completely insane. I miss those days.
Today....U2 Vertigo. Fuck the Ipod commercial and these guys are in general so stupid anymore, but I can't stop listening to this tune because the guitar sounds on this single are fucking monsterous! |
