Ya no kidding ... hell this could be my 'Song of the Day' for a whole month.

I've created an mp3 from the performance - quality is the best I can manage:

Careful, I try not to blast any SWD tunes in my car unless I'm on a safe country road somewhere that isn't normally monitored by radar. :)

And it doesn't seem right not to create & share an mp3 for Mustang Ford...

Good pick XF,

I don't know what the appetite is for Hum on this forum, but I don't imagine they're underappreciated around these parts.

And, they're another band that MUST be seen whenever they reunite for an occassional live performance. I have the pleasure of catching them in the Chicago area every so often, and seeing them last summer was (almost) as good as a surprise Swervedriver tour.

Looking forward to the Bottom Lounge gig tonight!!!

Interesting concept Chris. I'd pledge to buy a new Swervie album. (refer to premise for new Swervie album in KEXP interview).
Probably a ringo deathstarr pledge too.

I guess its a sign of the times we are in when bands can't really get much funding from their labels as the money just isn't there anymore. I think initiatives like this are good as it can help some more interesting projects get realised, like the Anyone Can Play Guitar film.

Try their BBC sessions CD if you can find it, apparently Lee Mavers wasn't happy with how the album turned out and thought that this was a better representation.

Apparently Mavers has dozens of new songs as good as the first album and is only to happy to play them for you on his acoustic guitar but has never recorded any of them. I'm wondering who will get their next album out first, Lee Mavers or Kevin Shields?

Speaking of musicians who like to take their time, song of the day is Dexys - "She Got a Wiggle".

It seems i dont listen to music much these days. I little waiting for students to arrive in the morning.. I only have 5 minute drive to work now or 15 minute ride. Not like the old days of an hour+ in the car. I should listen to more at home.

I haven't even listened to the whole thing through in one sitting but the new Silversun Pickups sounds deluxe - you'll enjoy I reckon Rocket.

It's all about the love Croz. The folks had good taste back then. Wasn't into Paul Kelly too much back in the day, but am recently appreciating the low key style but witty as hell word-craft...and the chord setups are relatively easy enough for me to learn on the old axe. (not that I dont appreciate some complex shredding - for real). But more in aspiring to such earnest openess as he does. 'Open arms and ways to fly' indeed Croz.

So today, I'm gonna kick on again with Paul Kelly 'Careless'

Hey, my lady and I both don't mind the Ravonettes. Turns out they fly into sunny old Newcastle tomorrow for a one off with the Brian Jones Town Massacre. Got me a date! Having one thing in common at least is alright Croz.

Edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros - 'that's what's up'.

Croz, thanks for wanting to hear some sort of rendition, but my music is usually a self sanity exercise, not so much for the 'enjoyment' of others. Wouldnt want to inflict any sort of damage. haha. That may change one day though.

This one just killed live: (Instead of the submarine blip, this night it was more of a high pitched bell.)

Bouncing between Rocket From the Crypt's Short Lip Fuser and Third Eye Blind's 1000 Julys. Not a big fan of the latter but for some reason I havent been able to get the tune out of my head since I heard it on the radio a few days ago. Big guitars....love it!

Boys of Summer just came on the radio.... quite fond of it ....

Digressing as usual.. I love how possibly my 3rd fave band (ha! like I can really decide) Propagandhi weave the melody of Boys of Summer into their song "Die Jugend Marschiert"

if you are at all interested in how a metalvegananticapitalismthrashpunk band could do such a thing in a classy "not a cover" fashion, listen to it here:

http://propagandhi.com/wp-content/mp3/diejugend.mp3

it's at the 2:50 mark

it's song 5 on their album Potemkin City Limits, "Die Jugend Marschiert"

http://propagandhi.com/discography/

i love them so much... and they have a new album out in a few months. WEEEEEE !
