Thuston Moore - "Space"

So stoked I get to see him and Kurt Vile play this week.

Nice car WWS, love the "shark" front end. Reminds me of the Mercury Cougar that I used to drive. Back when petrol was 37 cents a litre : )

"when petrol was 37 cents a litre"

hey Croz, I don;t think we woulda been driving back when it was that cheap here in Oz.

I don't really remember it much below 60c - and I started driving in 88

it's always hovering $1.50 here these days. but what the hell. it's only a 6.6 litre (401 cub. in)

yeah, i think SHARK as well. the bloke told me it should be on a boat within next two weeks. so should have it in about 6 weeks ! farrrrk!
imagine blasting DUEL in it. i beat it needs a new stereo tho....

No kiddin' - that looks like one Hell of a drive! Dude - too bad you didn't have to come here to get it - then, you could have driven Route 66 to the boat...
You'll have to let us know when it gets there and how he/she drives

Yeah WWS, wasn't that long ago you know, in Canada at least. 10 years ago, diesel was 39 cents, then 2001 happened and everything went ballistic. I think the next thing "they" are going to get us used to, is 2$ a litre. Won't be long before we are shoe-horning electric motors into hot rods and using the subs to imitate the roaring good old days. Enjoy it while you can, I say.

Today: "Baby's Arms" - Kurt Vile.....cool video too, shot on a phone !

I don't know Hayseed! Love that album! The latest has some huge dissapointments on it though... I made a playlist of the tracks I like from it:
Split Minute
18th Street Shuffle
New America
Trail the Line
Dear Author
A Lovely Game

the others are strange Grateful Dead jam vibe bouncy songs that sound like misplaced tracks from some different band...
but, I do like those 6 tracks.

Yeah man, dig the Stray Cats. Always reminds me of this kid from my home town who was odd and against the grain in many ways. Chequed himself out silly bugger. Might seem like a downer, but I admired that kid's quiet strength in his own independence.

Like the 'punk without the junk' comment WWS.

Remote Woods - Foreign Born

Unfortunately, outside of the "In the Remote Woods" EP, this band has disappointed me. It seems that after their debut EP, they have turned into one of the crap indie bands that Spin and Pitchfork seem to fawn over. At least with Remote Woods they still had a little bit of bite to them.

If life is but a dream, wake me.

Yeah Loper...crazy time for that place. I guess it would have produced some awesomeness music wise I reackon. Crazy mofos the Bader Meinhoff lot. Sort of associate Loop with all that but more it's influence on them from that time/place.

'Start Me Up' - Rolling Stones
Reading Keefs book at the moment. Plenty guns, drugs'n 'bitches' etc. Likin' more the insight to the tunes and how they 'cook' their songs. Some take a number of years to come through. Start-me-up was one of those slow cookers. Favourite part of the book talks about weaving guitars between Ronnie and Keith. Relate this to Jim and Adam's dynamic.

But for today, off the "Rocket" Playlist, my favourite track today has been:

Tempo change and riff's are arse kick'n. If those riffs were a fighter they'd be (wierd finger pointing) Randy Mucho Man Savage flyin off the top rope "OOooohh Yeahhh!! Gonna cut that four word vocabulary down to zero!...oooh yeahh!" RIP RMMS

I made a video for this Snail, what do you think of it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXzx4cwsJfM

A lot of people I've shown it to think its shit but I was aiming for a pre-Geffen Sonic Youth video vibe and I'm quite pleased with it.

Yeah, quite striking Chris. Like the contrast setup as per the tempo change. The tension setup with the dramatic cinema against the loose random free spirited girl dancing is great.

anyway...
The Laurels put out an official EP - you can even snag it off iTunes if time is of the essence!
It's really amazing - easily in my top five of the year.
