Penny Racer - Cave In

Antenna is such an amazing album. Unfortunately it turned out to be nothing but an experiment for Cave In and it turned off a lot of their fanbase.

Today is a tie between Rocket From the Crypt's Middle off of 'Scream, Dracula, Scream' and Glazed off of 'Circa: Now'. Kind of interesting because I believe those songs represent the shortest and longest songs in RFTC's catalog.

If you ever want to hear what shear power sounds like, the 36 second mark of Middle pretty much takes the cake.

If life is but a dream, wake me.

I've been lovin' the latest Rival Schools disk - Pedals.

let me know what you think Zed - it's different than Quicksand - reminds me a lot of Fireside's best work, actually... - I really dig it. Great guitars... great vocals...

Here's another CD that is kicking my ass since I bought it = Wavves - King of the Beach!

If I would have heard this last year - it would have been in my top 10 of 2010 - no doubt about it.

Rocket, that Rival Schools has some crafty guitar moments for sure. Not sure if you saw, but Appleseed Cast has a new EP "Middle States".

For any of you that enjoy Americana, "The War on Drugs" is really amazing.

The new Trail of Dead - Tao Of the Dead is awesome. It's a 2 disker...
One disk has the entire album broken down to just Part One and Part Two. All of the songs connect together and it totally rocks.
The second disk is pretty much the same deal as the other disk - but, songs are broken up by tracks with like 3 bonus tracks tagged on at the end. It is a bit excessive doing it the way that they did - but, I love it! The only thing I would have gotten rid of is the broken up disk includes a 33 min. demo of all of the tracks streamed together. Kinda weird - and it doesn't sound near as pumped up as the actual recording where levels are tweaked and obsessed over. I could see them giving it away on band camp or someplace - but, I wouldn't have included it on the official disk. Now it just means that I have to avoid it on a shuffle...

Stef, I don't know it, but apparently there is an unreleased album. I found this:

The "unreleased 2nd album" has been widely available for some time on the file-sharing network Soulseek, and is composed of a collection of B-sides and unreleased material.

good one hayseed!

man - I'd love to get my hands on that Rival Schools B-Sides disk!

I recently got a copy of "Three Imaginary Boys" by The Cure. So, I have gone through a major time warp listening to that and Staring at the Sea. It's been good times... rainy days... dodgin' tornados. Joplin isn't too far south from Kansas City!

so today...
The Cure - "Accuracy"
off - Three Imaginary Boys

shit - I still need to get the Appleseed Cast ep too!

there is some cool stuff on the Hi-Speed Soul radio:

http://www.hispeedsoul.com/index1.php

The Mrs. Magician sounds really cool!

plus - Three Mile Pilot - which I had never heard of even though I've followed Pinback and Systems Officer.

then, on a different search I stumbled upon Sweet Jane - Blackboots & Blackhearts EP... which also sounds great

- too much good stuff!

So, then I finally bought the Appleseed Cast EP that recently came out...

I remember buying The Bends the day it was released in the record store. What a fantastic album; their best in my opinion as I think OK Computer is highly overrated and the rest is just blah.

Hey Snail - I listened to a couple older mixes on the drive from St. Louis to Kansas City today and totally got into a couple different Smashing Pumpkins tracks that popped up.

so... - I guess I have to say today:
Smashing Pumpkins - "Geek U.S.A."
off - Siamese Dream

I hear ya Hayseed - The Bends is my favorite as well...
I think the newest Radiohead is especially blah aside from a few pretty cool tracks - but, nothing near as powerful and guitar oriented as the Bends.
I think all of the albums have a handful of really cool tracks though. There have been a handful of cool B-Side tracks out of Radiohead as well.
