yeah dude - Shot Forth Self Living is so great! Her Highness is really excellent as well. I've been getting a lot of mileage out of it lately because I recently dug it out of my CD booklet of long forgotten disks - but, there are some really killer tracks and a ton of great guitar riffs! hit me with an email...

Today...
Medicine - Wash Me Out
off - Her Highness

Hey Rocketchops,
how is Blueshift going?

Been listening to Terra Diablo's second lp a lot lately. That can be my Fav LP today.

Happy New Year Swervies. Lets hope its a shitload better than 09 was in my world. It ended with my Macbook Pro dying, hence not been around much, that and getting a little depressed that I miss out on all this SWD touring here in Australia. What can we do about that Whitewatersky? Snail? Sheesh!

Dunno Croz...its a digital world now. Far too exy to be jetty around the place. Take whatever comes yer way spose. Me, I take advantage of the digital world and explore/discover new local bands with influences from bands i dig with the chance to see them live. Sooo many. Everyones a rock star these days...just not with the mirage fortunes of the rock legend. We all know the rockn roll creed though, right..."Its a long way, to the top, if ya...." You know what i mean, do you? Hey, hang on, I don't know what I mean! Anyway, take it easy big guy! Happy 2010.

Oh J-mo, Opeth, I looked into them after you raving about them, but that is screaming shizen in my opinion dude!

Fu Manchu

Listened to them on a bike ride into a stiff gale yesterday. My legs hurt but my ears were happy.

Getting my grunge fix! Partying like it was 1992.

Lesson Learned - Alice In Chains

Ive been taking this album in for a while and I have to say Im really enjoying it. However, it could easily be mistaken for a Jerry Cantrell solo album. Still, very impressed.

Surfer Blood - 'Swim (to reach the end)'

http://www.myspace.com/surferblood

Echoey, anthemic monotoned harmonies, raw guitar, great melody, creative sounds and breakdowns/shifts. These guys have got hooks like the Bay City Rollers and I shouldn't be liking them... but I'm liking. Vaguely 'stadium Slade' meets Pavement and the Beach Boys on a good day.

Jeronimo,

Great album. Joshua Homme is God! I love Spinning in the Dafodils and Caligulove off of that album. Homme, Grohl and John Paul Jones. What a line-up!

Agree hayseed. I saw them on Austin City Limits last weekend. Fantastic show. Very creative music and well executed.

Grohl can be such an animal on the skins. A total power drummer and yet he can pull off some real tight fills and times.
I have a new found respect for Homme. He can sure front a band and seems to know his way around a guitar neck.

John Paul Jones....man, I can't say enough good things about him. A complete class act he is.
Great album.

Wow - I haven't seen the Favorite Song of the Day thread down this far - ever!
better add something...

baby birds don't drink milk - Sleepytime Rowboats
off: Jam-Packed Full of Awesome

oh yeah - I agree dudes - Them Crooked Vultures has been rockin' my brain!
anyone see them on SNL the other week? - totally kicked ass!
It was weird though - I wanted to check out the performance again the next day or so later... and while looking for a video clip, I stumbled upon some bs forum where everyone was just rippin on the show! totally hated it - in mass! - with just a few people counter arguing? It was messed up! - but, I didn't feel like getting involved...

Graduate - Third Eye Blind

Wow. I hated this band a decade ago. Couldnt stand them. However, I found myself listening to their greatest hits album more and more recently. I dont know what happened but it sounds fantastic. Maybe Im getting older and little less cool than I used to be. Really dont care that they had a lot of commercial success. Graduate is a great song and Third Eye Blind are power pop geniuses.

overcome - libido. for some reason, the other day i remembered adam used to play it in his solo set, and libido also supported swd at my favourite swd gig ever (1998 dingwalls in camden). so i managed to track it down off my best mate, as it's not on youtube or itunes. great, great song. i can e mail it to people if you want.

nice one hayseed, i'll get the album then. they were on fire records - a tiny label my best mate worked at. i seem to remember they were scandinavian or at least had scandinavian members. i remember hearing a few stories about the drummer, who was proper rock n roll; a real character.
