There's five different time warps in that song all colliding! The head space is amazing.

'At First Sight' and 'Sad Girl' - The Stems (Legendary psychedellic west-coast oz alt-rock act formed in early 80's- playing their last shows ever in October 2009)

Cheers for the memories lads! We made an animated filmclip for 'At first sight' in senior high art class in 1989.

Today

Chevelle - Brainiac

Thanks Jeronimo. I played it at school as my students arrived this morning. My naughtiest kid showed up during it with his naughtier big brother. I think they liked it as they both opened up and talked with me for a few songs.

crozza, snail - i'm a massive lou reed fan too. but a fan of the music, not the person. he is one of the most miserable fuckers out and is routinely horrible to any interviewer that dares ask him any questions. if you hate journos that much don't do interviews.

i saw him on the magic and loss tour in 92 (with the legendary litle jimmy scott, RIP) and he was a miserable fucker most of the night (but brilliant with it). then at glastonbury later that year (stunning). then i went travelling for ages and was in NZ when i heard that the velvet underground had reformed, so travelled 12000 miles or whatever it is back to london to see my heroes. ever since then, i've always said 'never watch your heroes if they reform'. and i've ignored my own advice ever since ... with the obvious example being swd..... roll on november!

I love this band. Any fans? Classic 70's sounding doomish rock. A bit like Sabbath.

Do it, they're fantastic. They're EXTREMELY vintage sounding. They seriously sound like some lost obscure band from 1971. I love it.

My favourite song is the same everyday. Juggernaut Rides, every version of it. The one from last winter's solo show in Oz is a particularly tasty version.

Strudel, I love Explosions too. I hung out with them for a day a couple of years back and asked them if they had listened to Swervedriver, and at the time, they said no. But, they had listened to Toshack Highway and were surprised at the connection.

Franklin - "Surge"
I was stoked getting a studio version of this track after seeing Adam play it live in Kansas City - and getting a snag of it from the Elbow Room boot.
Such a great tune!

love that album, loper. tread water is my fave. i've seen em a few times and they have been pretty average unfortunately. most live hip hop is (in my experience), with the exception of the pharcyde, who play with a live drummer. they did a 5 day residency at the jazz cafe in camden a few years back, and i went to 4 of them. stunning live.

I have to say that I thought De La Soul were great at ATP (they had a live band and they didn't play much from 3 feet high either), as were EPMD. I definitely agree that most live hip-hop is dissapointing. I remember seeing Wu-Tang Clan live about ten years ago and it was terrible.

For me, such a huge part of the enjoyment is the reassembly of old scratchy records for the basic tracks. That's died and it's all drum machines now. I still like breaks the best with hip hop.

Man, I can't remember if I ever heard that LP or not. Shot Forth Self Living (or whatever it's called) is absolutely killer after all these years.
