Today...
Gerling - "Death To The Apple Gerls"
off - Children Of Telepathic Experiences"

thanks again Croz! I still listen to these guys a lot. In fact, I recently made a "favorites" from the 3 Gerling disks - inspired in part by Deerhunter... only because Deerhunter will go off on these obscure instrumental tunes and then back to more of a pop based vocal track - back and forth, throughout the disk. they're very different - but, that one aspect got me listening to my Gerling collection again.

sweet!

Ill send you a copy once Ive heard your 5th Wab Rocket!

When Young Terrorists Chase The Sun was my fave lp of 02! Was given it when I left the city to teach in the bush. That was 7 years ago now and I am back in town as of last week. Another chapter opens, but what will be my lp of 08? I havent been buying or really listening to new music so it may have to happen quick...

On myspace in my friends is E.L.F. - Gerling bloke gone solo. His latest is being played on JJJ and has that Gerling style we love. Check him out.

Beatles - Rain

Yes...again. My brand new shiny Recording the Beatles book (envious?) says that the rhythm tracks on this one were recorded slighly faster than normal and slowed down for the vocal tracking later, which explains the kind of draggy, drunken feel to the backing tracks.

My name is Interloper and I am a nerd.

as far as Christmas songs go - I heard a really incredible tune by the amazing Andy Partridge (singer of XTC). I'm not sure if it's new or old or what it ever came out on - just heard it while buying crickets for Lizzie the gecko at Petsmart!

didn't a sound guy blow out one of his ear drums in a freak studio accident? I don't even know if Andy is still recording. It would be awesome if it were a new tune though...

LOVE RL Burnside. Thanks for reminding me. My sister turned me onto him quite a few years ago. True bluez...

How's about this quote (ol' RL was convicted of murder back in the 50's):

"I didn't mean to kill nobody," Burnside later said. "I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Him dying was between him and the Lord."

That's insane, I didn't know about the murder. Yeah, RL was unbelievable. Amazing how they found such a talent after all those years of him living in obscurity. Ass pocket of whiskey and Mr. Wizard are such good, soulful records that they'll ruin your life. Gene, I have a damn good recording of him at the House of Blues that you'll have to hear. Stay tuned.

I assume you're familiar with Junior Kimbrough as well?

I'm not worthy, but if you get a chance slip that one by...

Junior Kimbrough, I'm embarrassed to say is a name to me, more than me recalling any of his music.

BTW...Happy New Years, you guys! I think the Ozzies have already crossed the line, especially NSW, Vic and maybe SA. Good on ya's.. Hoist one for me!

One o my favs of theirs Geno! Good call.

Nirvana - "Negative Creep". Didn't really get into this during the day but Bleach is being rotated and appreciated right now. Raw and brutal as hell. Still jams my heart up in the throat hearing the pain flying out of the speakers. Amazing.
