Have you been celebrating our American holiday?
Some of them are included but not all. I think you will be happy with what I put. Not too sure about Hardcoreloper though. He'll probably hate mine. |

sweet posters! Unfortunately, I was out of town on the opportunity I could have seen Swervedriver blow (smash) the Pumpkins off the stage... too bad for me!
Yes, that was "Sacred Love". I was never sure if that jail story was true or just folklore? Now I don't remember if I just heard that from a friend or actually read it somewhere at the time? It's actually tough for me to pic a favorite from that CD - it's all so Bad!

I forgot to mention that I saw Bad Brains play at a little shit hole bar called (appropriately) "the Outhouse" in Lawrence Kansas back in 89. They were incredible. |

| I heard the story over a local radio station when it first came out. Seems it's true. Knowing BB, it probably is! BTW, they really were banned in DC for awhile. Can't remember exactly what happened but they caused some kind of a stink. I wasn't there. Only read about it 2nd hand. |

| after hearing about the jail phone call track i found my copy of Sacrifice, by Robbie Robertson. A track about an indian framed for the murder of an fbi agent. The guy tells the story of his improper incarseration via phone set to some quiet backing music. I loved it so much i went out a bought the lp after hearing it on late night radio. Pity RR has an annoying voice and never shuts up 'cept for this track. Oh well. |

yeah Interloper... they fucking blew. me. away! The Outhouse was out in the middle of the country. There were no other bars or buildings around at all. In some ways that was awesome because you could drink and party as much as you wanted in the field out by your car. The building itself was really kind of a shitty place to see music. The ceiling was low and there were no windows - it would get damn hot in there real fast. The concert was promoting their Quickness CD. I can tell you that LIVE, the music was much better than just on the CD. They all played incredibly well. And H.R. was intense on stage. (I also caught H.R. a couple years later after he had left Bad Brains and was just doing the raggae deal) I remember that the drummer, bass player, and guitarist were all BIG guys. The bass player was so big that on stage his head almost hit the ceiling. I heard that "the Outhouse" is now a strip club.

I got it on Ebay a couple of years ago. It's got several things. The best is 79 at CBGB's. There's one that's about 81 that looks like every punk rock show in a tiny room that I was at in my youth, and another around I against I era at some kind of festival. Very cool.
As a footnote, I just pulled down a torrent that had the entire Bad Brains discography (minus Spirit Electricity), so needless to say...Im the regulator...Im the regulator...Im the regulator...these days. |

HR is known for a handful of crack excursions, and if I remember right, that was one of them. Before they got back together for God of Love (which is actually every bit as good as Quickness imho), they did a record with an HR clone and Mackie from the Cro Mags on drums. I remember it sucking because they were missing two guys, but if you heard it, you'd have a hard time not thinking it was them. After that, someone probably needed money, so they did God of Love with Rick Ocasik. And it's damn good by Bad Brains standards. I was finally going to see them on the tour for that record with the Beastie Boys (fucking barf) and Jon Spencer (goofy, but it's better than Yo La Tengo or some shit), and they cancelled the whole tour because HR had another one of his freakouts, be it drugs or delusions. Here's an interesting tidbit. This is the last bit of news I heard about them....

I saw Bad Brains play sydney back when that fella was singing. they were really good. i never saw them with HR so I can't compare, but I was not at all disappointed. the guy seemed to give everything on stage so i was stoked.
I against I is such an amazing record, huh.
Fave song of late is "Requiem" by Rival Schools.
Email me if you want me to email it to you. Actually, I just uploaded it to
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Swervedriverstuff4/files such a beautiful song. another classic from Walter Schreifels (quicksand, gorilla bisquits, youth of today). what a legend. |

Hit the quote button to see the HTML code. You have to get the http address from an online picture. Right click on the picture and then copy and paste the address between the codes. It will look like Make sure you don't leave any spaces or it won't work. It might take you some playing around to understand. Once you do, it's very easy. I think the button thing above works too but I never bother with those as I know the coding. That's about as geeky as I get.
-Edit- Crap! I just tried to show you the codes but it ends up looking like an failed attempt. Click the quote key here to see what I used. |

the postman left the mail at my front door before i went on holidays..... jerodudes stuff was luckily still there when i found it and so far after listening to 3 of the 7!!!! cds im stoked with the 2x comps, jeronommo the gooniemix is rocking and i like it the best so far. These times cover was real interesting for sure but after one listen i need to respond later with it digested. Onya bro.
Meadowlands is so much more mellow than secaucus. strange, i thought it would be more up 5 and interested having only heard Ex Girl Collection previously which id call almost poppy.... oh well more listens will aid me no doubt.
Kooken And Hoomen is pretty dlux, in a decoder ring genre maybe??
I like too many today to pick just one.

Hey moenkopi, when I was in Grand Rapids I picked up Minus the Bear,Centaur, and Songs Ohia. (The magnolia electric comp. CD) Awesome gear man. Minus the Bear is so fricken tight!!!!
Minus the Bear: "Thanks for the Crisco Twister" tune--lol, I cant remember the right name, doh!!
Coolness Crozza!! I actually like Decoder Ring better than K&H. And, I'm starting to have a taste for the electronic shite. I have a bit more that you might like as well. My next comp might sway on the more artsy fartsy side of things....stay tuned y'all. |

Yeah, Jaymo...love Posies. see my post about Ken Stringfellow. He's coming here to a small club in the DC area, doing the solo thing. Wonder which of the Posies tunes (if any) he's going to play.

You have prolly heard "Girls" off the lp, its on the lost in translation soundtrack and sounds like My Bloody Valentine more than the Kevin Shields tracks.... the others are an interesting blend with both male and female vocals and only a touch of electronical production all in an unfazed blur that ive always loved about them all. Dlux
Also enjoyed Adam Freelands stuff lately, Mind Killer has been rattling around my empty head for the last few days.
AND Jeronimoteller the end of the Gooniemix is awesome, Porcupine tree especially got me going with that repetitive beat and the pyschodelic ending, I loved its guts. |
